It's taken me a bit to get to this post because a. I have been incredibly sick all winter with baby #2 and b. I am too depressed that this trip is over to relive it. BUTTT now that it has finally warmed up outside (skip spring & go straight to summer? ok Ohio.) I finally busted out my camera and cried while looking at all of these photos. This really was a trip to remember.
For my 30th birthday my husband wanted to do something special for me. I told him I didn't want a party, just a trip somewhere that I had no involvement in planning. We have talked several times over the years about going to Harbour Island in the Bahamas, but never really followed up with it. Being the lovely man that he is, he knew this was the perfect time to take me. He also knew that bringing some of my very favorite people along would make the surprise that much more special.
I did not find out we were going to Harbour Island until the day we left for our trip. Once we landed in Atlanta to switch flights, he shared the news. This is also when we casually bumped into our best friends, Ally & Brian plus their babe, Kip. I was so so excited to see them & knew this was going to be an amazing 30th birthday week. I really didn't think this trip could get any better until my favorite red-headed family showed up at the dock on golf carts, drinks in hand when we arrived in Harbour Island. How the heck did they all pull this off?! My sister and her whole gang had already been on the Island for 3 whole days!!! I called her to tell her I was pregnant and SHE WAS THERE! So so sneaky. Having my favorite people in the most beautiful, serene place was the best 30th birthday present I could ever ask for.
Check out my photos below to get a peek of our adorable house, the crystal blue water we spent a full day sailing, plus sand castles & ocean finds. Enjoy!
The water is REALLY this blue. There is no editing or filter to these photos & they seriously don't even capture the beauty of this place.
Harbour Island is the one of the most charming places I've ever been. It is full of adorable little cottages, golf carts, pink sand beaches, friendly locals & chickens. So many chickens. It is quiet & quaint and the perfect place for an easy, carefree get away. We had the most memorable trip & I am already counting the minutes until I can go back. Until then, I will continue to punch my friends every time I see a chicken & yell, "CHICKEN SLUG!"
