May was an insanely busy month. The weekend before we went to Italy (post on that to come ASAP!) we hosted two parties and a garage sale. It was the most fun weekend full of family, friends and food.
One of my best gals who also happens to be my sister in law is tying the knot NEXT MONTH! She is marrying the most amazing Southern Gentleman and we could not be more excited for the two of them. In liu of an engagement party, we opted to throw them a "Stock the Bar" party. This was fun because we could do more of a "masculine" theme if you will. We had it at Seventh Son Brewing which gave us the perfect backdrop-- we really didn't need many decorations since this place is already RAD.
We went with succulents over flowers & a cinema light box over a glittery banner. We printed out some instagram pics of the adorable couple and viola! We had a party :)
A night of beer flights, bar cats & delish food catered by Lindey's made for one great party. We love this couple dearly and cannot wait for the rest of the festivities to ensue!
The next morning, with many of our loved ones in town, we had a "Baby Blessing" for our sweet Fox at our house. A baby blessing is a new kind of ceremony that takes the place of a traditional baptism. Phil and I do not have ties to one particular church, however, we really wanted to do something meaningful to guide him on his spiritual journey. Phil's sister and brother-in-law have done this type of ceremony for all 3 of their kids, so it only seemed appropriate to ask them for help. Our brother-in-law Seth lead the ceremony and it truly was even more special than I could have imagined.
The day was all about celebrating Fox's journey through life and inviting his loved ones to help guide him and be his supporters. Phil & I also wrote a little something for Fox's amazing "god parents" (more of a loose term for his mentors and people he will always be able to learn and grow from) Katie Marvinney & Erwin Effler. It was an incredibly special day.
The weekend went too fast, as they always do when you're having fun. I feel more thankful than ever to have such wonderful people in my life as well as my sons life. Thanks to all those that traveled in town-- we love you!
