Like most normal and busy humans, I have a really hard time turning off my brain at night. Story of my life is as follows: 7am-4pm "I'm so tired. I can't wait to get into bed early tonight." 11pm-4am- "hmm I wonder how I would feel about caramel apple dip if it didn't explode in my locker in 3rd grade?" I'm sure you can relate. It seems a lot of us spend the whole day waiting to turn off our brains and then once we have the opportunity to do so, we can't.
So my quest to get myself to sleep better has had many interesting twists and turns. I have always had anxiety (if you know me you're like, duh) and sometimes sleep doesn't come easy. I also don't do well with any type of medicine. One time in college I took the recommended dose of Nyquil when sick and missed all my classes because I slept for two days (texts comin through like "you ded?"). I've tried meditation, later yoga classes, waking up super early so I'm tired, wine, but nothing worked until I was introduced to Natural Calm. This paired with white noise...lights OUT.
Turns out when your body has a deficiency in Magnesium Citrate it can lead to really fun symptoms such as but not limited to: inability to sleep, anxiousness, nervousness, headaches and abnormal heart rhythms just to name a few. A lot of us have this and don't even know it. Natural Calm works wonders. It comes in a container loose, but you can buy it in packets as well. I usually mix two scoops with some La Croix and make myself a bedtime cocktail. With cold water it's best to let it sit for a while so the chemical reaction can take place. The greatest thing about this stuff, you're not dragging in the morning.
This stuff is all natural, so if you're thinking about it try it! Any type of Magnesium supplement will work. It does come in pill form, but I feel like adding this has become part of my nightly routine.
Sleep tight! xx
